about

A photograph is worth a thousand words, but I chose to use just a few words to describe some photos that haunt me (mostly in a good way) from my younger days, and how important to me they have become.

Photos have always been a big part of my life - I used to chronicle lots of things with photos, and indeed, still do.

This song took very little time to write, and was developed from some chords I wrote down in Switzerland in 2009. It has taken the best part of 4 months to complete though - the mix was a bugger!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one.

I still see you sitting there
On that rocky beach near Agadir
Baking in the morning sun
Got your message loud
Got your best smile on
I was your suburban boy
You always were the girl of my dreams

I turn the page you’re looking fine
Dressed up like you’re off to school
“April Sun In Cuba”’s in the air
Kids must have thought you were so damn cool
I was your suburban boy
You always were the girl of my dreams

I saw it in a photograph of you
I guess somehow that kind of makes it true
Looking through my photographs
I still can’t believe it turned out me and you

Found the page I was looking for
Summer dress against the sun
Summer nights and summer sighs
I knew you’d be my only one
I was your suburban boy
You always were the girl of my dreams

Throw some pictures on the wall
There’s you and me and whatsisname
This could have been a different story
We could have played a different game
But I was your suburban boy
You always were the girl of my dreams

I saw it in a photograph of you
I guess somehow that kind of makes it true
Looking through my photographs
I still can’t believe it turned out me and you

I still see you on that beach
I see you’re still looking fine
You seemed so far out of reach
I’m so glad that you are mine
But I was your suburban boy
You always were the girl of my dreams

I saw it in a photograph of you
I guess somehow that kind of makes it true
Looking through my photographs
I still can’t believe it turned out me and you
