The 4th song (and last one which is likely to make a full production) from my "Swiss Period".
Written on my friend Daniel's nylon string acoustic guitar in Cernier, Switzerland, and recorded with Thor Oliversen (Stavenger, Norway) playing the beautiful, bluesy lead guitar, Mike Watkins (Stirling, Virginia, USA) playing the sensational drums and Alfred Solti (Cobargo, NSW) on his signature quirky keys. I'm on rhythm guitars, bass and all vocals.
"Take Me To Heart" is a phrase that was bumping around in my head at the time - for no particular reason, although I have discovered a possible source since then in a Gram Parsons song. I think it's different enough from Gram's stuff though :)
I love playing and singing this style of music, and although I put the genre as "Rhythm and Blues", I mean the old style R&B rather than the modern version (as if you couldn't figure that out!).
Thanks to Mike, Alf and Thor for their contributions here - as I've said before, I'd love to play live with this "band". Special thanks also to Anne Cozean for her advice and contribution to the vocals - sorry I filled all the harmony space up Anne :(
Take me to heart
Just don't take me for granted
Tear me apart
But don't leave me that way
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
When we first met
You got just what you wanted
Time and again
You got your own way
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
Stop me if I've said
Something that doesn't need saying
Stop me if I've said
Something wrong
Tell me if this
Is just some kind of game you're playing
And I'll be gone
SOLOS
Stop me if I've said
Something that doesn't need saying
Stop me if I've said
Something wrong
Tell me if this
Is just some kind of game you're playing
And I'll be gone
Got this thing in my head
That you'll set me free
was it something I said
I just can't let it be
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
Hope you have some regrets
When you walk out that door
But I'll get back my heart
Pick myself off the floor
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
