Those of you who have, or have had (or indeed have been), teenage offspring will probably understand the lyrics without too much explanation. Not everyone will have had this degree of experience, but you’ll know what I mean. I have worked for 30 years counselling teenagers and their parents (amongst other things), and “Things Must Change” was inspired by an amalgam of memories of some of the interviews I carried out with parents – people sometimes very much at the end of their tether.

Thor plays the excellent bluesy Strat (his first submission was absolutely right, and is what you hear here), Alf the Hammond, piano and the “Tusk Brass Band” (the organ solo is a real showstopper – how does he fit so many notes into two short bars?), and Anne and Jan the very cool backup vocals. This has been a long time in its development, but has been worth the wait. This band is the stuff of dreams for me.

Thanks also to Thor, Anne, Alf and Jan for advice on the mix - and also to Mike Watkins who unfortunately couldn't get time to do a drum track, but is on this in spirit.
